Softbox

- Popular for head and shoulder portraits.

- Creates a soft and flattering light.

- Light wraps around the subject well.

Umbrella

- The deeper the shape, the better control over the spread of light.

- Silver umbrellas create a crisp direct light, contrast and a high light output.

Beauty Dish

- Good combination of an even light, definition and contrast.

- White beauty dish offers a soft and slightly more light appearance than a silver one.

- Good for commercial, makeup ads etc

Reflector Dish

- Good at shaping light.

- Creates strong shadows

- Good for capturing small details e.g. wrinkles, likely not to be used on a younger model

Snoot

- Light shaping tool creates a torch-like effect

- Creates a crisp light

- Good for spot lighting.
