steps to take

- look at Stefan Ruiz, focuses on that mint green clinical walls of hospitals etc

- look at key theory specifically for the portrait, look back at the launch presentation for individuals such as Susan Sontag and other theorists

With regards to having writing by the staff to go along side the portraits, I could possible record the encounter with nurses/staff instead and upload them. however I like the idea of written text because it gives a more personal element to the work. I think you can to some extent tell what a person is like through their handwriting.
