For this FMP I really want to bring together all that I have learnt from being at the AUB and show how I have grown as a person and a photographer. From the project brief I knew that I wanted to take on a documentary piece, there was no debate, I just needed to decide what I wanted to take on. My first idea was to continue with documenting my mother and colleagues at the hospice which I had taken on in the last project (portraiture) however I decided against this as after scouting out the hospice I found there was not enough room to set up lighting. I felt that if I continued with this project I would continue to have the same issue and therefore wouldn't be able to develop technically. I really enjoyed this project and the people I met were lovely however in the FMP I want to show my technical ability as well as a thought out theme/idea.
I started to look back at my previous projects for inspiration partially my first project (documentary) where I took portraits of people in Poole with some landscape shots and thought about the possibly to develop this work. I would consider Poole a part of my hometown but I live across the bay in Hamworthy which I kind of overlooked in this project. I then created the mind map above thinking about what my project could be in regards to Hamworthy. As a starting point I wanted to look broadly at the idea of travel which I think is something that is important within documentary photography so I started by looking into Alec Soths work.
