Zed Nelson's Marmite and Fruitcakes video documenting UKIPs pre-election conference in Margate in 2015 reveals the views of some of the British public and members of UKIP. This video was interesting to me as I could kind of see similarities between who UKIP targets and the area that I live in. The conference took place in Margate, a struggling seaside town which has in a recent years hit hard times and some have turned to extremes to save their town. hamworthy is a small place and is in no way as radically as places like Margate however I think it is still important it document who the people who live there are as people.
Within my project I would be interested in creating a beautifully lit video similar to Zed Nelsons to supplement my overall project. Often when waiting at the bus stop in Hamworthy I overhear conversations and sometimes I have caught subtle conversations about how individuals feel about Britains current situation. I vividly remember an older gentleman chatting to me about the 'golden days' of Hamworthy filled with apple orchards and a cinema which I found lovely and then proceeded to comment how 'there are now too many people'. I am not comparing this individual to UKIP however I am personally really interested in the views of the people of Hamworthy as I feel a certain connection to them and how it might have effected myself.
