Globalisation and its affects

Globalisation is the process in which previously unconnected isolated nations have become interconnected and results in regions of the world and people now being influenced by other countries with the main influencer being the USA. In the post-war years the UK has became more Americanised country, from, the golden years of Hollywood films to now with widespread American transnational corporations dominating app and smart phone technology such as Apple, Facebook and Google. Hannerz (1992) coined the term 'Coca-colonisation', the process of destruction of uniqueness in terms of religion, ethnic identity and national identity creating one-note countries and arguably this is the path that the UK is taking.

Therefore is can be a justification as to why my work is important enough to be a project. If this interdependence continues to grow, the culture of the UK which it definably British is at risk of being lost to Westernisation and Americanisation.
