My reason for moving from digital to film was really that i struggled to focus and get a handle on the digital camera itself. I have always been interested in doing a project with a film camera but didn't have the confident to work completely on film due to time restraints. I also wanted to move it film for aesthetic reasons. I feel that using film gives a feeling of memory and time pasting which I something that I am interested in portraying in my work.

Positives of shoot

i really enjoyed working on Mamiya and that i felt so much more involved with the workings of the camera. I liked that whole idea of making an image by removing the slide, clicking down the shutter and cranking the film on.

Negatives

i overexposed the film way too much, hopefully it will be salvageable

this is something that would be easy enough to fix for the next shoot, ill need to make sure that i have got the settings on the Mamiya correct and will double check with Jason before taking the camera out for another shoot.

i also need to work on getting people to make portraits with me. This is an important element to my work as not only landscapes describe a place, people also do. To combat this for the time being i plan to create a survey to get some ideas about what people think of Britain as a place.

After finding that the images were overexposed, i started to edit them which actually worked quite well. The edited images are below. I really like the first image, i think the it describes Hamworthy well as a place and could make a good opening image. Hamworthy is also a relatively industrially area with the abandoned metal factory and industrial zone so by using these images i think it will help to create an all-round image of what Hamworthy is like and what its like to grow up in.
